We are not currently accepting submissions.

Please follow all the instructions on this page to ensure your submission gets the attention it deserves.

Here at Marten Press, we are always looking for excellent books in need of a publisher. We publish both fiction and nonfiction, but not publish anything and everything. Below is a list of categories we publish and a few we don’t. Before submitting a query, please read through the lists to make sure we are the right publisher for you. For fiction, we have a strong preference for science fiction and fantasy, but we do accept other genres.

Instructions to Submit a Query

1. Email all queries to submission@martenpress.com
2. Please specify your genre in the subject line of your email. Choose NONFICTION, SCIFI, FANTASY, or OTHER.
3. Subject line should read as follows: Query for [GENRE] [BOOK TITLE]
   1. Example subject line: Query for SCI FI: The Life and Death of an Android
4. In the body of the email please include
   1. 3-5 sentence synopsis of book (the more compelling your book sounds, the better)
   2. Short author bio including any relevant writing experience
   3. Your website and/or social media links (Only if you have them already. These are not required!)
   4. The first chapter or first ten pages (whichever is shorter) in the BODY of the email. Please do not send it as an attachment.

What’s Next?

You can expect to hear back from us within four months. If we have not responded after four months, you may inquire after your submission. Please do not inquire before that time as we have many submissions to get through.

If we do request your full manuscript, we will also request a full synopsis (200-400 words) of the book at that time. Please have the synopsis prepared when you send your full manuscript. Turnaround time after full manuscript is sent may be up to eight months. If we haven’t gotten back to you within eight months, you may inquire after your manuscript.
